Is a MagiKats franchise right for you?

If you’re thinking of buying a MagiKats educational franchise, you’re undoubtedly asking whether this is going to be right for you. That’s sensible! Read this post to see who makes a good MagiKats franchisee – then you will be one step nearer to answering that question.

What qualifications do you need for a MagiKats franchise?

Although many of our Principals (what we call our franchisees) have a professional background and a variety of qualifications, you don’t need any particular qualifications or experience to be a Principal at MagiKats. More importantly, you don’t need to be a teacher. What you do need is the right skills and interests.

What skills do I need for a MagiKats franchise?

As a franchisee, you are running your own business and therefore responsible for the day-to-day management, marketing, sales and accounting. None of these things are particularly difficult so please don’t feel overwhelmed. MagiKats will provide you with all the training, software and processes that you need.

That said, you do need to be motivated andwell organised.  Good communication skills are important, as is an interest and ability to deal with a variety of people from different walks of life. Ask yourself whether you are able to listen to parents and children with a whole spectrum of requirements? Can you support and motivate your own small team of mentors, who form the backbone of your workshops? Can you organise the centre, so it looks and feels like an enjoyable place to come every week?

What interests do I need to have?

There is no prescriptive list of interests you must have, but in our experience, it helps if you have a sense of community, some understanding of education and an interest in giving back. And, of course, an interest in helping children is a must! If that sounds like you, and you want to take a new direction in your career, an educational franchise presents an ideal opportunity.

Choosing the right educational franchise

Of course, MagiKats isn’t the only franchise opportunity out there and it’s important that the one you choose is a good fit. That means you need to take a close look at different franchise offers and ask yourself, what are their values? Do they align with mine? How much support do I get and is it enough? Do I like the people running the franchise and do I feel I could work closely with them?

MagiKats is a small, family run business and we see our franchisees as part of our family. Your success matters to us so we want to make sure you have all the right skills and would fit in well with our organisation. After all, you’ll be our ambassador within your local community.

Is it the right time?

To a great extent this depends on you and whether you’re ready for a new challenge. However, before you start your franchise journey, you do need to be reasonably financially stable especially if you are investing your savings. Make sure you work out the cost of the franchise and the potential returns, and then decide if now and in the future, the price of the franchise you are investing in is worth it, and if you can get the returns back that you need or want.

You will need to be able to fund the purchase of your franchise, but we can advise you about what help may be available for this. Additionally, we’ll help you build your own business plan.

It does help to have the support of family. And as you’re going to be working for yourself, you need to think how much time you can afford to spend on your franchise. Consider your other commitments.

From a MagiKats point of view, there is no wrong time to start an educational franchise. The private tuition sector is going from strength to strength, with demand continuing to grow.  And while the start of the academic or calendar year may seem an obvious starting point for an educational franchise, it takes a little while to get set up and ready, so the sooner you start the ball rolling, the better.

Let’s talk
